Victoria’s Secret Angels will inundate the Mykonos, known as the isle of winds, this summer!

Garbed in their usual sensual lingerie, feathers and sheer fabric they will head to the island for a special shoot.

Victoria’s Secret  is still keeping the identity of the top models who will take part in the shoot. The lingerie house is known for its collaboration with names like Alessandra Ambrosio, Ana Beatriz Barros and others! All that is certain is that temperatures on the Cyclades are bound to soar.

Once among the poorest, barest Greek islands, Mykonos in the 1960s became a bohemian mecca and is now one of the glitziest, most renowned tourist destinations in the country. There’s also no shortage of clothing and jewellery boutiques in the main town (Hora) for a spot of retail therapy. It is, however, strongly suggested that you vacate Hora itself between 10am and 5pm – when one cruise ship is in port, let alone two or three, the streets essentially become impassable.

The Cyclades are most enjoyable in late spring – when the landscape is still green, the sea has warmed up to feasible swimming temperatures, but the crowds have yet to descend – and early autumn, when the summer hordes have departed and the sea is at its warmest. In both...

There you’ll find the Panagia Tourliani Monastery, the religious heart of Mykonos. The walls of this delicate, 18th-century domed church are crammed with icons. Its classical tower was built as late as the Thirties by marble-cutters from neighbouring Tinos island - you could be forgiven for thinking it was several centuries older.

We're only halfway through August, but Lindsay Lohan, German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, Cristiano Ronaldo and many more have already voted with their feet. Mykonos, the island made famous in the 1960s by Jackie Onassis and Grace Kelly, has emerged as the undisputed summer queen of hip holiday destinations, giving Greece a boost of optimism after years of turmoil on the frontline of Europe's financial crisis.

They have come like an invading army: Hollywood stars such as Lohan, DJs, singers, footballers and basketball stars, a rollcall of famous names snapped sipping champagne, dancing and partying on Mykonos's famous beaches.

The rediscovery of the "island of the winds" has not only helped to put Greece – whipped for the past six...

Easter time in Greece coincides with the advent of spring, the early blooming of the local flora, the change of seasons as well as peoples’ dispositions. It is a great festival of the Orthodox Christianity, called ‘Pascha’ in Greek, celebrating the Resurrection of Christ. For the Greeks, it is a far more important celebration than Christmas and for that reason, although the tourist season is at its very start, locals participate eagerly in the preparations, both spiritual and material, for the festivities. Things start to culminate from the Saturday before the ‘Holy Week’ and progressively, they reach the climax one week after. Every day in between, there is a Mass (mainly in the afternoons) at the principal churches of every parish in Town (Agia...
